Once there type in ipconfig /all and you’ll see the IP on the screen.Īfter you enter the IP address of the server then scroll down to where it says screen size and set it to 1024x768. To find out the IP address of the machine you want to connect to, click start>run>and then type in cmd, which will bring up a command prompt.

To enable the use of RDP on the iPads it is necessary to go the the App Store and download an app called Remote Desktop Lite. When activated, the icon seen in the screenshot below will briefly show on the screen. Once you are connected to the Wi-Fi network scroll down and touch the General icon and place a check next to lock screen rotation. There should be a check mark next to the name of the network if the connection was successful. Enter the network name and WEP key for wireless router that the server is connected to. Once the wireless router has been set up, touch the Settings app and then touch Wi-Fi.

If you’re only using the iPads to take orders, and not credit cards, then it’s not necessary to have an internet connection for the wireless router. However, we always suggest that you isolate it from the network that the terminals are on so that they’re not using the same bandwidth and thus slowing down the system overall. The only requirement is that the server and the iPads are connected to the same wireless network. Setting up the wireless router doesn’t require anything out of the ordinary to make Microsale work with the iPads. If the machine you’re using as the server has laptop style display adapter, make sure to select Maintain Aspect Ratio is checked. The last part of the Windows portion of the setup is to log into each User Account you created for each iPad that’s connected to the server and right-click on the desktop and go to Graphic Options>Panel Fit>Maintain Display Scaling, and make sure it is checked. There is a document in the M$CD>Documents>Technical Documents folder called Setting up Basic Windows Networking.pdf that will walk you through setting up the Windows User Accounts if you’re not familiar with this process.

Once this portion of the Windows setup is complete you’ll need to setup a Windows User Account on the server for each iPad that will be connected to the system. Click yes, that you are sure that you want to continue.Īnother prompt will follow saying that the keys and values have been added to the registry.

It’ll then prompt you with a dialogue box similar to the screenshot below warning you that you are about to make changes to the registry.

Go back to the UniversalTermsrvPatch_20090425 folder and click on the xp.reg if it’s a 32 bit system or vista.reg if it’s a 64 bit system. Select No and wait until all steps for the Windows portion of the setup are complete. You will then be prompted to restart the computer.

The program will install automatically and will give a prompt that says Patch success once the install is complete, click OK. Once the dialogue box is displayed click the button that says Patch. Once downloaded, run the UniversalTermsrvPatch. Download this folder to the M$CD on the Server machine. Inside of that folder there is another folder called UniversalTermsrvPatch_20090425. Once logged onto the FTP site go to the Msaledealer folder and then to the WinXP TS Patch folder.

The patch can be found on the Microsale FTP site. Next, install the Windows patch that will allow multiple users to log onto the server at once through RDP. Once there, click the Remote tab and make sure the box is checked that says, “ Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer”.įrom there, click on the Advanced button and make sure that the box is checked to Allow this computer to be controlled remotely, and that the maximum amount of time that invitations can remain open is set to 12 Hours. First, make sure that the PC being used is a server grade PC since MicroSale will be running multiple instances at once on one machine.
